Ryan James Boyle is a Vice President and Senior Economist within the Global Risk Management division of Northern Trust. In this role, Ryan is responsible for briefing clients and partners on the economy and business conditions, supporting internal stress testing and capital allocation processes, and publishing economic commentaries.
Prior to joining Northern Trust, Ryan held multiple management roles at TransUnion. He researched and reported on trends and key topics in the consumer credit industry, and he led initiatives to improve the breadth, depth, and quality of data reported on consumer files. Before TransUnion, Ryan worked as an economic consultant at Navigant Consulting, supporting expert testimony in competition and securities litigation. He started his career as a business analyst at ABN AMRO/LaSalle Bank.
Ryan holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, with highest honors, from DePaul University. In addition, Ryan completed the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Shundrawn A. Thomas serves as the President of Asset Management. In his previous role as Executive Vice President, Head of Funds and Managed Accounts Group he was responsible for the development, management and distribution of the firm's mutual funds, institutional mutual funds and exchange-traded funds as well as related business activities. He also oversaw the Managed Accounts practice which provides investment advisory solutions to existing clients and financial intermediaries. His broad executive responsibilities involved developing long-term strategy, executing operating plans, managing client and vendor relationships and developing and retaining talented professionals.
Previously, Shundrawn served as President and Chief Executive of Northern Trust Securities, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of Northern Trust Corporation. In addition to his general management responsibilities, he was responsible for overseeing financial management and working with regulators including FINRA and the Securities and Exchange Commission. He also served as Head of Corporate Strategy for Northern Trust Corporation. As a direct report to the Chief Executive Officer, he supported executive management with key strategic planning initiatives. Prior to joining Northern Trust, Shundrawn served as a vice president for Goldman Sachs and held positions in sales, trading and research with Morgan Stanley.
Shundrawn received a B.S. degree in Accounting from Florida A&M University and an M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He has also completed executive education programs in corporate strategy at Chicago Booth School of Business and corporate governance at University of Notre Dame Mendoza School of Business. Shundrawn currently holds the FINRA series 7, 63 and 24 securities licenses.
Shundrawn currently serves as a trustee for Wheaton College and as a board director of the Florida A & M University Foundation. Shundrawn is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago. His civic involvement has afforded him the opportunity to speak and lecture nationally on topics including leadership, strategy, investment management and professional development.
Darek Wojnar, head of funds and managed accounts, principally leads the development, management and distribution of Northern Funds, Northern Institutional Funds, FlexShares® Exchange Traded Funds and related business activities. He also oversees the managed accounts practice, which offers investment advisory solutions to financial intermediaries and their clients.
With more than 20 years of investment industry experience and a forte for successfully building strong teams, his broad executive responsibilities include building and strengthening investment products lines, developing long-term strategy, executing operating plans, managing client and vendor relationships, and developing and retaining talented professionals at well-respected firms.
Darek offers over two decades of extraordinary success in a series of high level roles at top tier companies that include the head of ETFs for Hartford Funds (including Lattice Strategies acquired by Hartford Funds), managing director and head of U.S. iShares Product at BlackRock (including BGI acquired by BlackRock) and head of ETF product development at UBS Global Asset Management.
Darek received an MBA in finance and international business from New York University and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from New York Institute of Technology. He holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses and is a CFA® charterholder.
Bob Browne is executive vice president and chief investment officer for Northern Trust. He is a member of Northern Trust's Management Group. He is also a co-portfolio manager of the Northern Global Tactical Asset Allocation Fund.
Bob chairs the firm’s Investment Policy Committee, which sets investment policy for all Northern Trust groups in all asset classes. He is responsible for investment performance, process and philosophy across multiple investment strategies including fixed income, active equity and passive investments. Bob joined Northern Trust in January 2009 and has 30 years of investment experience.
From 2004 to 2009, Bob worked for ING Investment Management and was the firm’s chief investment officer for fixed income and proprietary investments. In this capacity, he oversaw $120 billion in assets under management across retail and institutional clients, as well as the firm’s own insurance assets. From 2002 to 2004, Bob was founder and managing partner of Picador Capital, an alternative investment firm. From 1999 to 2001, he was co-head of Americas fixed income for Merrill Lynch Investments and he also worked in the firm’s London office from 1997 to 1999 as a senior portfolio manager. Bob spent the first eight years of his career, from 1989 until 1997, at JP Morgan Investment working as a global fixed income and currency portfolio manager in the firm’s Tokyo and London offices.
Bob holds a bachelor’s degree with a major in economics from the College of the Holy Cross. He also has a master’s in international business studies from the University of South Carolina. Bob is a CFA® charterholder.
Michael Natale is responsible for establishing Northern Trust Asset Management's presence in the intermediary market and driving the adoption of our investment expertise and strategies across North America.
An experienced investment industry professional, Michael has successfully built, developed and managed sales teams for more than a decade, focusing on diversity, process and qualitative results. He has experience across channels and products, including exchange-traded funds, mutual funds and managed solutions.
Previously, Michael spent seven years with Deutsche Bank and five years with Morgan Li where he managed and developed internal sales teams with more than 50 professionals.
Michael earned his bachelor's degree and MBA from Stetson University (Deland, FL). He is a former professional golfer and a four-time Chicago City Amateur Champion. Michael holds the FINRA Series 7, 24, and 63 securities licenses.
Bill Thomas is the national sales manager for mutual funds and separately managed accounts for Northern Trust Asset Management, responsible for growing presence in the intermediary market. He accomplishes this by developing the sales team through motivation, mentoring and product knowledge and skills development.
Previously, Bill was the head of distribution for DSC Quantitative Group overseeing all sales and marketing related activities of the firm's operations. From November 2011 to July 2013 he was CEO, head of sales for SIP America, a distributor of structured investments to the retail and institutional markets. At SIP America he was responsible for all aspects of the firm including sales, marketing, product build out and development. Before joining SIP America, Bill was managing director, national sales manager at Allianz Global Investors and in addition, served on the executive committee and global product committee responsible for firm strategy and product development.
At Allianz, he oversaw the internal and external sales efforts that lead to increases in annualized sales from $9 billion to more than $60 billion in sales. Bill also worked as a divisional sales manager for Allianz Global Investors and PIM CO Funds. Bill began his career at Thomson McKinnon Securities as a financial advisor.
Bill graduated with a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and served on the Board of Governors of the Money Management Institute. Bill currently holds the FINRA Series 7, 63, 65, and 24 licenses.
Samir is head of national accounts at Northern Trust, responsible for FlexShares ETFs, Northern Funds and separately managed accounts. In this role his primary responsibilities include leading the company's efforts to build strategic alignments and relationships within the intermediary market.
Samir has more than 20 years of experience in the asset management industry. Prior to joining Northern Trust, Samir was a national accounts manager for State Street Global Advisors. In this role he cultivated strategic business partnerships across the intermediary space focusing on the independent broker-dealer and RIA channels. Samir has worked extensively on an array of financial products, specifically mutual funds, separately managed accounts and ETFs. He started his career at MFS, where over 9 years he held positions as a business development manager and internal wholesaler, building relationships with financial advisors across the country for national and regional broker-dealer firms
Samir graduated from the University of New Hampshire, Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics, and currently holds the FINRA Series 7, 24, 63 and 65 licenses.
Kevin O'Rourke is the senior product manager of the Northern Funds and Northern Institutional Funds at Northern Trust Asset Management. Kevin manages a team that, among other things, oversees all product-related initiatives of the Northern Funds and Northern Institutional Funds.
Kevin joined Northern Trust in January 2001 and has more than 20 years of investment management industry experience.
Kevin earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Benedictine University and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. Kevin is a CFA® charterholder.
